NHS Attend Anywhere

Attending Your Advocacy Appointment via Video

Video calling is as convenient as a phone call, with the added value of face to face communication.

Where do I go to attend my appointment?

Instead of travelling to your appointment you enter our online office waiting area and your Advocate is notified when you arrive and will join you when ready.  There is no need to create an account and no information you enter is stored.

What do I need to make a video call?

  • A good connection to the internet. (If you can watch a video online (eg YouTube) you can make a video call).
  • A private, well-lit area where you will not be disturbed during the appointment.
  • A web-camera, speakers and microphone (which are already built into laptops, tablets or mobile devices).
  • Google Chrome web browser on a desktop, laptop, android tablet, or smartphone (you can download this if you do not have it via your own web browser on your desktop or laptop – if using your tablet or smartphone go to ‘Google Play Store’ and download) or Safari web browser on an Apple iMac, MacBook, iPad, or iPhone.

Is it secure?

Video calls are secure; your privacy is protected. You have your own private video room that only authorised advocates can enter.

How much internet data will I use?

You do not have to use data while waiting for an advocate to join you.  A video call uses a similar amount of data to Skype or FaceTime.

How much does a video call cost me?

The video call is free (except for internet/mobile data usage): Smartphone and tablet users – If you can, connect to a home or work Wi-Fi network to avoid using your mobile data allowance.

  • Users don’t use any data while waiting for a clinician to join them.
  • A video consultation uses less than half of the data watching a YouTube video in High Definition does - about 120 MB on a mobile device and 230 MB on a computer for a 10-minute call.
  • Data use increases when there are more than two participants in the call.

What about my personal information?

Security, privacy, and data protection are integral to the system:

  • Health-grade privacy, security, and data protection are at the forefront of the system.
  • Users enter Waiting Areas through a provided link and wait in their own private video room.
  • There is no chance of another client entering their room by mistake, and the room is deleted after the meeting.
  • Users leave no digital footprint. No client-identifiable information remains in the system after the meeting ends.
