ADVOCACY SERVICE SET UP DROP IN CLINIC AT DGRI

Dumfries and Galloway Advocacy Service will offer its first ever drop in clinic at DGRI this month (26th September), sharing the space in the Support and Advice Centre with NHS Dumfries and Galloway Volunteering, Citizen’s Advice and DG Council Financial Advice services.

The team already have a presence at DGRI as referrals from the Social Work team based there mean they may be required to visit a patient on a ward, or to advise a relative, carer or member of staff. Now they will be available for two sessions every week at a drop in clinic.

Pamela Deans, Chief Executive, Dumfries and Galloway Advocacy Service said:

“We are delighted to take up the opportunity to work in a hospital setting and with our partners in health and social care, in the Support and Advice Centre and throughout DGRI.

“We will be able to support patients, relatives, carers and staff on site at and to raise awareness of Independent Advocacy and what Dumfries and Galloway Advocacy Service can do to help. We look forward to working with everyone there.

“The door will be open and we will be ready to listen. We would encourage anyone; patients, staff, carers and visitors to DGRI, who feel that they would like to know more about Independent Advocacy to come in for a chat and we will do all that we can to help.

“It is important for us, as a service, to create those links with hospital based staff, so that we can work productively and successfully, in order for the patients to get the absolute best from their hospital experience.”
