Advocacy – Defending Your Right To Be Heard

Dumfries and Galloway Advocacy Service has been delivering Advocacy across the region for 20 years.

We are the only Independent Adult Advocacy Organisation in D&G and we are a registered charity and voluntary organisation.

We are a free, confidential and personal independent advocacy service.

Advocacy means: having someone on your side, helping you to share your thoughts, feelings and wishes.

Advocacy is about empowering people from all walks of life. Advocacy promotes equality and social inclusion and helps those who feel vulnerable or who have been marginalised in society.
Mental Health
Helping clients to understand and take part in actions being made under the Mental Health (care and treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003; we aim to ensure that the client is aware of their rights at all times.
Learning Disability
Ensuring that the client’s vulnerability through Learning Disability does not impact on their right to have their opinions heard and valued; we support the client by helping them communicate effectively with others about their wishes.
